The law firm now known primarily as MOUNTAIN LAW CORPORATION was formed in 1950 in Vancouver by Mervyn Boucher.
After articling to his father at a London, England, law firm, David Shrimpton began working with Messrs, Boucher & Sauer in the early 1960s in their Vancouver office on Kingsway. His son, Peter, joined the firm in 1987 when it was known as Shrimpton & Company. Peter then extended the practice into the Sea to Sky area when he moved to Whistler in 1993 to start his family with his wife, Susan.
Known in the Corridor as Mountain Law Corporation, the firm expanded rapidly with the acquisition of the Ted Ralfe Q.C. Law Office based out of Whistler’s Function Junction in 1998.
That was followed by the purchase of David Sweetzir’s busy notary practice in Rainbow (Whistler) in 2003. A part-time office in Pemberton’s village serviced the communities in the northern part of the Corridor.
Meanwhile, Simon Read as associate counsel (based out of downtown Vancouver) was retained to handle the firm’s litigation matters, a role he continues to fulfil very successfully after almost 20 years.
In 2008, David Shrimpton retired at age 80 and was honoured with others by the Law Society of B.C. at a special dinner recognizing his half-century of legal service.
